Position Summary <\/p>

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) Supervisor to manage and support the daily operations of the asbestos TEM laboratory. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in electron microscopy, sample preparation, and instrument maintenance. This role involves supervising users, managing equipment, maintaining lab protocols, and contributing to high-level imaging and analysis projects. <\/p>

<\/p>

Key Responsibilities: <\/p>

TEM Operations & Supervision <\/p>

\u00b7 Oversee the operation, calibration, and maintenance of TEM instruments and related equipment. <\/p>

\u00b7 Ensure optimal performance and uptime of TEM systems (e.g., JEOL, FEI, Hitachi, etc.). <\/p>

\u00b7 Supervise day-to-day activities in the microscopy lab, ensuring safe and effective operations. <\/p>

\u00b7 Train and support users in sample preparation, instrument use, and image\/data analysis. <\/p>

User Support & Training <\/p>

\u00b7 Assist staff across departments in planning and conducting TEM analysis. <\/p>

\u00b7 Provide hands-on training and develop instructional materials for new users. <\/p>

\u00b7 Monitor and manage user scheduling, usage logs, and adherence to protocols. <\/p>

Technical Expertise & Imaging <\/p>

\u00b7 Prepare and analyze samples using standard and advanced techniques for asbestos analysis. <\/p>

\u00b7 Perform high-resolution imaging and elemental analysis (e.g., EDX, SAED). <\/p>

\u00b7 Interpret and troubleshoot complex imaging data in collaboration with principal investigators. <\/p>

Lab & Equipment Management <\/p>

\u00b7 Maintain lab supplies, consumables, and inventory related to electron microscopy. <\/p>

\u00b7 Schedule and coordinate preventive maintenance and service with equipment vendors. <\/p>

\u00b7 Ensure compliance with safety regulations and waste disposal protocols. <\/p>

Administrative & Reporting <\/p>

\u00b7 Maintain documentation including SOPs, maintenance logs, and user training records. <\/p>

\u00b7 Stay current with advances in TEM and asbestos analysis to recommend upgrades as needed. <\/p>

\u00b7 Prepare client reports. <\/p>

<\/p>

Required Qualifications: <\/p>

\u00b7 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field. <\/p>

\u00b7 Hands-on experience with transmission electron microscopy. <\/p>

\u00b7 Hands-on experience with asbestos analysis <\/p>

\u00b7 Prior experience in a supervisory, training, or core facility support role. <\/p>

\u00b7 Proficiency in sample preparation, instrument operation, and digital image analysis. <\/p>
